Okay, so is there a "which culture goes where" map?

New Berlin is marked on the map as a dot on the Ulfrun Peninsula at the extreme right of the map. If you look to the left (Westward) across the Vinmara Sea, you'll see both Tellus and Tethys. Those are the only cultures I've pre-decided. The rest of the map is free to fill as you like.

Okay, so I'm guessing you'll straighten us all out in editing if we all decide to put different cultures on the same island...

Hey, if you want to claim a space for yourself, create a thread on the forum here saying so. First come, first serve.

Okay. Lemme hash out the plot details so I know what kind of terrain I need.

How long would it take to sail from Tellus to New Berlin?

Adam, it's a great question. The two locations are not very close together. They are separated my a distance of about 120 degrees longitude, which is about the same distance as between Melbourne and Cape Town, SA. To go from South Africa to the east coast of Australian takes 25 days at a steady 10 knots an hour according to a site I found that tracks such things.
Steam paddle ships can make a steady 10 knots per hour or perhaps even better (for a warship). So the best ships from Tellus could probably make the trip in 20 days. The New Berlin Navy, at least their most modern ships, can probably do 20 knots over a long period--so they could make it to Tellus in around 12 days.
A good sailing ship of the clipper ship model could probably make 15 to 20 knots as well in a Venusian ocean. If winds were favorable, they'd be nearly as fast a New Berlin ships. IF.
Sailing ships not of the clipper type would take longer. Again, depending on winds, it might take them up to 40 days to sail the distance--or even more if the winds gave out.
